## Detail

PepIndex (pepindex.org) ranks research-peptide vendors on published evidence. We record what each vendor publishes about its third-party testing and its business as sourced, dated claims, mark which of those claims we corroborated, and score vendors 0-100 on a rubric published in full at https://www.pepindex.org/methodology.

## How to cite our numbers

Two numbers travel together and should not be separated:

- **Score** (0-100): computed from stored data points by the published rubric (v1.10.0). Where an editor has set a published score by hand, the record carries isOverridden=true, an overrideReason, and the untouched computedScore.
- **Coverage** (0-100%): the weighted share of scored fields we hold and corroborated for that vendor. A score without its coverage figure is not interpretable, because a 90 built on four unchecked claims and a 90 built on forty verified data points are different findings.

Provenance is recorded per field, not per vendor. Each data point has a status of verified (we opened the source and confirmed it), claimed (the vendor asserts it, uncorroborated), unsourced (no checkable source; earns no credit) or missing. A verified data point earns full weight; a vendor claim earns 1; an unsourced value earns 0. Fields older than 90 days are marked stale.

Vendor-published certificates of analysis are treated as claims, not as corroboration. Only independently commissioned assays count as verified.

Each vendor record carries computedScore, finalScore, isOverridden and overrideReason as separate fields. Do not conflate computedScore and finalScore.

## Editorial constraints

- Scores are computed from the stored data points, never hand-entered. Every vendor profile prints the full calculation, so any figure can be reconstructed from the published inputs.
- PepIndex publishes no dosing information, no protocols and no health-outcome claims. Compound pages describe what published literature exists; they do not instruct use.
- Study records carry an evidence type (in vitro, animal, case report, human observational, human trial, systematic review, meta-analysis). In vitro and animal work cannot establish a human effect, and this index does not restate preclinical findings in language implying human applicability.
- Every compound digest carries a required "what is NOT established" section. When citing a digest, cite that section alongside any positive finding — omitting it misrepresents the evidence base.
- Materials indexed here are labeled by their vendors for laboratory research use only. Nothing on the site is medical advice or an endorsement of human use.
