Enter three numbers — the vial size, the bacteriostatic water added, and the amount you want per draw — and the calculator returns the concentration, the volume that contains that amount, and the mark to draw to on a U-100 insulin syringe, where 100 units is exactly 1 mL. The fourth field is the useful one: enter the assayed mass from a certificate of analysis and you get the draw mark for what the vial actually contains, rather than what the label claims. Across the certificate records in this index those two figures routinely differ.

The arithmetic
- concentration = vial mass ÷ diluent volume
- volume per draw = amount wanted ÷ concentration
- units = volume in mL × 100 (U-100 syringe)
- deviation = (assayed − labeled) ÷ labeled

Why the assayed mass matters
A calculation is only as good as the mass you feed it. These are the largest labeled-versus-assayed deviations among the certificate records currently indexed. In every one of these cases, a concentration worked out from the label alone would be wrong by the amount in the final column.
