Score breakdown

The score has two halves: the research base — how long the compound has been studied and how much has been published — and the quality of the evidence the market produces for it, aggregated across every vendor that carries it: assayed purity, lot-to-lot consistency, readable third-party certificates and those vendors’ review record. It measures the evidence base, not the merits or safety of the substance.

Research evidence24.0 / 24

Studied since 1975 — 51 years of published research

How long the compound has been studied. Fifteen years or more of published literature earns full marks; a newer compound earns less.

Research volume14.0 / 14

519 publications indexed in PubMed

The volume of published literature located. Full marks at fifty or more publications.

Vendor purity22.0 / 22

Mean assayed purity 99.6% across 18 certificates

Average assayed purity on the certificates published by vendors that carry this compound. Full marks at 99.5%+, nothing at 95% or below.

Lot-to-lot consistency7.2 / 12

±0.29 pts purity across lots, mean label deviation 11.4%

How tightly assayed purity and labeled-versus-actual mass hold across different lots. Rewards reproducible manufacturing.

Testing transparency12.2 / 14

23 of 23 listing vendors publish an accessible certificate policy

Whether the vendors carrying this compound publish per-lot certificates anyone can read without an account.

Third-party testing13.2 / 14

17 of 18 certificates from a recognised independent lab

Share of certificates issued by a recognised third-party testing lab rather than an unnamed or self-named one.

What is DSIP?

Delta sleep-inducing peptide, a nine–amino-acid peptide first isolated from cerebral blood, studied in relation to sleep regulation and stress responses.

Studied in published research for sleep regulation and stress resilience.

Regulatory status

Labeled by vendors for laboratory research use only. Not approved as a medicine in the United States, United Kingdom, or European Union.

What the research examines

1 area

The areas of published research this compound appears in. These describe what the literature has studied — never a claim of benefit, effect or suitability for any use.

Published research

Studied in animal models and small human investigations of sleep physiology, with mixed findings. PepIndex does not evaluate clinical significance and does not describe administration.

  • DSIP in insomnia Human — controlled trial, 1984

This paper summarizes different investigations into effects of delta sleep-inducing peptide (DSIP) injections on insomnia. Two different studies showed improvement of sleep following single injections of 25 nmol/kg b.w. before sleep. Repeated administrations indicated a buildup with normalization of sleep structure after four administrations. Repeated injections in the morning - besides increasing daytime activity - still had a strong positive effect on night sleep, but not s…

  • Effects of DSIP on narcolepsy Case report, 1984

Repeated injections of delta sleep-inducing peptide (DSIP) were given to a 35-year-old male narcoleptic. Effects on wakefulness and sleep were evaluated by self-reports, performance tests, multiple sleep latency test and all-night polysomnography. DSIP reduced the frequency of sleep attacks and increased activity, alertness and performance during day-time. The sleep period was compressed by DSIP with enhancement of REM sleep. The results suggest that the effects are due to an…

  • A clinical trial with DSIP Human — controlled trial, 1984

In an open study 7 patients with severe insomnia were treated by a series of 10 injections with the delta-sleep-inducing peptide (DSIP). In all but 1 case sleep was normalized for follow-up periods of 3-7 months. The mood and performance during the daytime improved as well. A problem may be a long-standing habit of drug addiction.

  • Effects of delta-sleep-inducing peptide on 24-hour sleep-wake behaviour in severe chronic insomnia Human — controlled trial, 1987

Impaired daytime functions are a significant part of chronic insomnia besides sleep disturbance. Therefore, the effects of intermediate-term delta-sleep-inducing peptide (DSIP) administration on sleep and daytime performance were investigated in 14 middle-aged chronic insomniacs. DSIP was administered under placebo-controlled, double-blind conditions for 7 successive nights. Polysomnograms were obtained for placebo baseline, beginning and end of DSIP treatment, and one placeb…

Evidence digest

What the research on DSIP actually shows

The indexed literature on DSIP includes human clinical or observational records (4 human-clinical or observational records). This digest describes the shape of that evidence and links the records behind it. It does not judge whether DSIP is safe or effective for any purpose, and nothing here is medical advice — the material sold by the vendors in this index is labeled for laboratory research use only.

PepIndex describes what literature exists. We do not interpret it, assess clinical significance, or publish quantities, protocols or instructions for use.

Vendor comparison

Vendors are ranked for DSIPspecifically: the score folds in this compound’s price per milligram against the market median, alongside the same documentation and testing that drive the overall board — so a vendor that is cheap on DSIP outranks a pricier one of equal documentation, even if the pricier vendor sits higher overall. A vendor without a captured price for DSIP is judged on its overall basket price. Purity and deviation come from the certificate records indexed for each vendor.
